INTRODUCTION
Purpose of Program
This interactive program will allow the user to estimate the
capital cost of a new dairy facility using an itemized estimation process. The
basis for this process is to use a unit cost value for each item needed for the
project and multiply this by the estimated number of units needed to complete
the job for that item. An example of this process is shown below. The program
will automatically calculate the estimated cost for each line item and also
summarize all line items to determine the total estimated capital cost.
Line items are grouped according to their category relative in
constructing a freestall barn. Additional items that are not already included
can be added under the User Defined category.

Computer Tips
-
The program will guide you from one page to the next. We suggest you follow
through to the "Final Report" page.
-
If you need to change a value on a previous page, use your browser's "back" or
the "previous" button at the bottom of the page. Once you make the change, be
sure to hit "Update" at the bottom of the page.
Otherwise, the program will not use the updated value in its calculations.
-
NOTE: It may be easier to first print the 8 category pages. Then, once you've
been able to look up the data, you can come back to the site and enter all the
information at one time.
